Ms. Kate Pal

Principal, Pal Insurance Services Limited

Kate’s 12 years of experience in the financial services industry includes commercial lending, private equity, life insurance and estate planning. Today she specializes in identifying and implementing integrated estate planning opportunities for wealthy families and business owners.

Over its forty years, Pal Insurance has built an enviable reputation for its expertise in the innovative use of life insurance and creative estate planning. Kate’s experience in co-leading Pal Insurance with her father, Joe, has given her an intimate understanding of the nuances of being part of a multigenerational family business. With that knowledge and insight, she is able to guide entrepreneurs, enterprising families and successful professionals through their long-term financial and estate planning with care and compassion.

Kate helps her clients articulate and clarify their financial planning objectives, often in the areas of estate preservation, inter-generational transfers, succession planning, and philanthropy. She then works closely with them to implement strategies to achieve those objectives. Kate believes that human and social priorities hold equal importance to technical facts and data.

Prior to joining Pal Insurance, Kate spent many years overseas working in private sector international development — an area where she retains her passion. She started her career issuing long-term debt to private companies in Latin America at The Dutch Development Bank (FMO). Kate later worked in private equity for the Manocap fund, buying and operating businesses in Sierra Leone.

Kate is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Family Enterprise Advisor (FEA). The CLU is Canada’s premier wealth transfer and estate planning designation while the FEA uses a multi-disciplinary approach to providing collaborative and complementary advice to business family clients. Kate is also a member of the Conference for Advanced Underwriting (CALU) and a member of YPO. Kate holds an Honours BComm designation from Queens University (‘05).
